His naked feet are torn and split by shards of blackened ice
Within an endless pit inside he drowns all of his cries

Rapidly, lightning flashes and it burns his fragile eyes
Blindingly, he carries on, the howling wind carrying his cries
Trembling arms around a wretched bundle made of cloth
The pilgrim, unfaltering, carries on

Roving endlessly through raging storms
Unseen, a choir of demons whisper in his mind to stop
Boulders sharp as daggers break his fall
Holding in his arms the final breath of god

The parched lungs of his creator lie across the marsh
The lord who gave his own creations power to choose their path
Step by step the pilgrim tracks the traces of their sins
Ruins of cities, broken faces, ashes and debris
